History

Born in 1880, Frederick Ellison trained as an engineer at Salford Technical College; his progression in various engineering disciplines positioned him to acquire the Charles Bell Lift and Crane Manufacturing Company circa 1920, forming the first company to bear the Ellison name.

Later joined by son William and granddaughter Pauline, the three generations of Ellison took the company from strength to strength; they continued to manufacture goods’ lifts for the mill industries and even began manufacturing machinery for the Ministry of Defence.

Now considered one of the North’s most reputable industrial engineering companies, Fred Ellison & Co were joined in 1968 by Sydney Benson, a petrochemical engineer. This move, along with an increased commercial availability of oil and gas, initiated a change in focus for the company, towards energy services. This progression created Ellison Energy Services Ltd. This new company is the modern continuation of Fred Ellison & Co, both in name, quality and reputation.

Ellison Energy was joined by Derek Wilkinson in the 1970s; their new Mechanical Engineer specialised in thermal fluids for industrial processes and enabled the company to progress into the design and construction of entire production lines for some of Europe’s most successful manufacturers.

At this point a Director, Derek purchased the company in 1986; his unique leadership of the company continued until 2007 when it was passed onto current Director Isaac Wilkinson.

The long-running name, quality and reputation continue as Ellison Energy continues to progress in the energy services market, intensively prioritising all its customers’ needs every step of the way.
